How companies respond to protests, conflict and violence can have a significant impact on how the issues are resolved and the likelihood of further incidents. Unfortunately in many instances well-meaning but ill-advised responses can make matters worse. Based primarily on experience in South Africa, we are able to advise companies on how best to respond to protests and conflict and how to resolve issues to minimise further occurrences of conflict and reduce the impact of conflict should it reoccur.
There may also be situations where disputes or disagreements have existed for some time and relationships are at an impasse. We can advise on possible 'trust-building' measures, assist with facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogue, or other strategies to unlock such disputes.
